The Thinking Multiplier

28 April 2026 · 1 min read · AI · Thinking · Leadership · Decision Making · Learning

AI is separating people into two groups:

Those who use it as an amplifier.
And those who use it as a replacement.

---

One group uses AI to push their thinking.

They question more.
Explore alternatives.

Test assumptions.

The more they use it,
the stronger their thinking gets.

---

The other group uses AI to avoid thinking.

They ask once.
Take the answer.

Move on.

The more they rely on it,
the less they build that muscle.

---

You can see it in moments like this.

A team needs to decide what to work on next.

---

One person asks AI for suggestions,
picks one, and moves forward.

---

Another pulls context from different places,
uses AI to compare options,

and pushes on trade-offs.

---

Same tool. Very different outcome.

---

Over time,

one group handles more complexity
and makes better decisions.

The other becomes faster,

but narrower.

---

AI doesn’t decide which group you’re in.

You do.
